Our custom printed Kraft tape comes in two main grades #240 and #260. The #240 grade is designed with the strength to seal cartons weighing up to 40 pounds. It's a smart, ecological and economical way of sealing cartons and cardboard boxes, plus it has the added advantage of being capable of displaying your desired printing and/or images in as many as three different colored inks.
Kraft water activated tape is covered on one side with a very strong adhesive that simply needs to be moistened to be activated. Special water activated tape dispensers are available for this purpose. #240 water activated Kraft tape with custom printing is perfect for sealing your packages and cartons while simultaneously advertising your company, your product, or providing information such as warnings or alerts to your customers or shippers. Maybe you just want to spread some good cheer or share some motivational tidbit by printing something on your packaging tape that will cause viewers to take notice. This heavy-duty paper tape also serves as an anti-tampering safeguard.

What is Water Activated Tape and what are its benefits?

Water activated tape has a starch-based water activated adhesive. This starch-based adhesive becomes activated & sticky when it passes over a wet brush in a Water activated tape dispenser. Water Activated Tapes almost exclusively use a kraft paper backing that is either reinforced or non-reinforced.

Water activated tape is mainly used for sealing corrugated box packaging and is also used to reinforce seams in box making. Once the tape adhesive is activated and applied, it becomes permanently bonded to the box providing a superior closure. The tape works well on recycled cartons and all grades of corrugated boxes. The reinforced construction assures reliable performance across a range of packaging environments and applications. Water Activated Gummed paper tape is an economical packaging tape that will meet the needs of most industries and general industrial applications such as food, beverage, medical pharmaceutical, paper, print, electronics, shipping, and distribution centers.

Application is most easily accomplished at room temperature and once applied; the tape performs well throughout the normal temperature ranges typically encountered by packaged products in shipping and storage environments. In cold environment packaging, a tank heater is utilized on the dispenser which assures a complete seal.

The rapid increase in of home-based businesses, has created a whole new market demand for Water Activated tapes. Historically, the water activated tape dispensers could be cost prohibitive. However, new lower cost dispensers such as the Curby Ecommerce Tape Dispenser from Intertape, make it possible from everyone to afford these dispensers. This has caused all sorts of new Gummed Tape Demand, particularly with printed tapes.
